I'm running Windows 10 and am getting the same problem. Select multiplayer from the launcher, the game loads, and then i just keep getting a failed login prompt. I select retry and the same message pops up. I can only select retry or exit, no other options. I've already re-installed the game and still get the same message.

Outside of that, currently nothing in terms of the type of mp battles you're talking about. That sort of stuff will be a thing in due time, but at this point in the early access they seem to be heavy into single player. There might be a few mods out there that could help, but you would need to go digging around. #5.
