TheBeyerdynamic DT 990 PRO and the AKG K702 are both great headphones for critical listeners and have very little difference in performance. Sound-wise, the AKG might lack a bit of sub-bass when compared to the Beyerdynamic and could sound a bit sharper on higher frequencies. On the other hand, the AKG don't feel as tight Inthis video, I compare the famous Beyerdynamic 990 Pro 250 Ohms against the new 900 Pro Xs. The differences are surprising. To learn more about each headseDT770 Pro good for gaming? Yeah. The difference is there. Maybe not noticable in gaming. But get the 250ohm version if you really are getting an amp/DAC combo. I'll recommend the Sound Blaster G5 or G6 if you have the budget and pair that with the DT 770 pro 250ohm. Also 250ohm has a coiled cable and the 80ohm does not.The990 Pro takes a bit more juice to drive, but they do have quite good sound. Again can't talk on the 900 Pro X sound, but I've heard they have better midrange/bass and slightly more tamed high range than the 990. 990 is V shaped, so not as much emphasis on mids, quite emphasized lows and highs.
The770 is less accurate in the low end due to the closed back design, the 990 doesn't isolate you from the room, so it sounds more natural, and less fatiguing to work with for long periods. I've done a bunch of mixing on the 990 and they are a very nice headphone. I also have the 770's I use for people in the studio as a guest monitor.
FiiOK5 Pro is one of the best deals out there right now in my opinion; I'm a bit of a FiiO fanboy though. It has an outstanding amplifier and a good/very good AKM DAC. Also very good connection options. It's entry level at about $150 but not dirt cheap.Thebiggest thing for gaming is soundstage. The 990s are good in that regard, but there are a lot of options out there. Look up mad lust envy gaming headphone guide for a look at a lot of different sets. I found that it addresses a lot of the weaknesses of the DT990s while improving on its strength like the great imaging and perceived detail. The 1990s are more sensitive than the 990 PROs too, so they don't need as much power even though they're both 250 ohms.
