Aug 19, 2013. #3. There is a distinction in the LED-lit arena. Some displays / TVs use edge-lit backlighting and some have direct LED backlighting. Edge-lit is no different in how it functions than the previous cold-cathode lighting, which was also edge-lit. You will notice a difference in the warmth and responsiveness of the lighting, however.
Edge-lit: €104.80. Backlit: €122.90. Since I'm on a budget, those type of price differences do matter. Can someone explain me why Backlit is better than Edge-lit (At least, that's what I've heard) AND if it's actually worth the extra €18.-. The monitor is 1920x1080 @ 75Hz (Yes, at the native resolution I'm sure) if that matters.

Summary of LED Vs. QLED. LED is more or less like an LCD, but uses an LED backlight instead of the standard cold cathode fluorescent lamps used in most LCD televisions. 7503 is Edge-lit, you will have uniformity issues and several people have reported the panel being pretty bad. 7303 is Direct LED, much better for uniformity. I am actually not sure whether there is actual difference inc olor depth on 7303 and 7503, a lot of websites seem to get that wrong.
