Some competitive utility tractors require a diesel particulate filter (DPF) to deliver cleaner emissions and filter the exhaust. Regeneration is the process that burns the soot accumulation inside the DPF in order to “clean” it. This process requires farmers to sit and wait, and DPFs require routine maintenance – wasting time, fuel, and
The truck senses this and goes into a "regen". This occurs when the truck dumps extra amount of fuel into the cylinders on one side of the engine to raise EGTs to 1000 degrees. This basically incinerates all of the particulate matter in the filter, which goes out the tailpipe. Once the filter is clean, the regen stops.

When I asked about a software update to make the regen run longer and hotter, they checked back with GM and said no such update exists.
I have a new holland boomer 37 tractor that requires a forced dpf regen. The dealership can not connect with the tractor. How to get software to do regen, or bypass auto shut off. Mechanic's Assistant: Sometimes things that you think will be really complicated end up being easy to fix. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic I'm going to connect you with
Forced/Manual Regeneration On some vehicles it is possible to force or manual DPF regeneration cycle with a scan tool. Before the regeneration cycle is started, make sure the vehicle can undergo a regeneration cycle. Basic checks for coolant and oil level should be performed.
So I tried to force a regen while driving, keepings revs high, but too many idiots on the road. Got home, and plugged in the Vida, and behold Partical soot almost 40g full. I have read that at 45g they need to replace the DPF. So I forced the regen with Vida, and felt so sorry for my car, as it ran at a constant 3000 rpm, for 1hour and 7
The forced regeneration process can take up to 30 minutes. DPFs require more maintenance than catalytic converters. The ash from the engine oil accumulates on the inner walls of the ceramic and in the pores. This increases the pressures in the DPF and if clogged, can even damage the engine.
The typical minimum vehicle speed to enable regeneration is 30-40km/h and the higher engine load will assist reaching the minimum exhaust temperatures to enable regeneration of the DPF.
Apr 25, 2018. #2. DEF is not related to DPF regenerations. DPF Regenerations are determined/initiated by distance, differential pressure algorithm and can be manually initiated via bi-directional diagnostic instruments. Not sure about the 900 degeees exhaust temp. Video is not Mercedes-Benz Sprinter specific but describes the regeneration process.
