The 328Ci is comparable to the 330Ci and it is definitely performance wise leaps behind the M3 in both acceleration, handling, and durability. The 335xi is as fast as the M3 in acceleration, and even in faster in some regards without the need to chip. It has great power delivery, good torque, but doesnt handle as well stock for stock.

Wednesday 23rd January 2008. In my opinion, having owned both (though my 330 wasn't a sport). The E46 has a better chassis than the E36. By that I mean the wheel and body control are better. True
dmax · #4 · May 20, 2020. I got over 300 hp's out of my e46 by selling it back to BMW and getting a 340i xDrive (Think awd Buick with better seats. ) Don't F up your car, OP, and you could enjoy it for many years, unless it's just a toy to you in which case, you're probably still better off selling it and getting the car you want, but get green.
The driveshaft is not one piece for a reason. The reason is that the space that the driveshaft fits in is dynamic, not static. The distance from the center support to the differential changes, so there is a slip joint so the driveshaft can also change. A one-piece driveshaft is a very common performance upgrade.
The cost of buying and retrofitting M3 brakes on your 330 would probably cost as much as a BBK if not more. Otherwise, just upgrade the brake pads and upgrade the rotors to stock size, cross drilled units from brembo. However, youre getting a new Bimmer and the brakes are still under warranty.
Depending on what maintenance has been done, expect to pour another $1-2k into it in parts to bring it up to snuff. If you decide you can forego the ZHP, a closer price would be $7,500 and up for a non-ZHP E46. Maintenance will be basically the same between a non-ZHP E46 and a ZHP E46. If you decide to go for a non-ZHP E46, I definitely suggest
